Cliff Dwelling Rock Formation
This sandstone, pumice and tuffa cliff is the result of a gigantic volcanic eruption 25,000 years ago. The eruption blew 15,000’of material off the top of the mountain and spread ash over a huge area. These cliffs are located near Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA. The sandstone is very soft, filled with hollows, and can be easily worked with stone age tools.
There was more rainfall in this area about a thousand years ago and there are many remains from the indian tribes who lived here in those times.
