Echo Amphitheater

Echo Amphitheater is a natural rock formation located in Norther New Mexico, USA, near Ghost Ranch. Water running down the cliff face in wetter times weakened the sandstone and let this formation develop.

The Ghost Ranch Museum has created a replica pillar of the high peak on the right. It is about 5’ tall and the various layers are labeled with the age of the rock. They also mention that if you laid a sheet of paper on top of the pillar the thickness would represent more than the entire recorded history of man. These rocks have been around a LONG time.
